Leatherworkers who sell and show their products at craft fairs should consider purchasing liability insurance to protect their business.
Our Artists, Crafters, and Tradesmen Insurance Program has two policies to choose from, so that leatherworkers can choose the coverage that best fits their work.
An annual policy offers leatherworkers the most comprehensive coverage. It also includes the option to purchase professional liability insurance that covers leatherworkers who teach their skill or give demonstrations.
The show policy offers a great option for leatherworkers who only attend one or two shows per year, and do not need the more comprehensive policy.

In addition to leatherworkers, ACT Insurance can help many other artists, crafters, and tradesmen, including:
Leatherworker liability insurance is a unique coverage designed to help you pay for claims arising from bodily injury or property damage.
Whether you sell your products at events, in stores, or online, accidents can still occur and leave you financially responsible for medical bills, repair costs, legal fees, and more. Having leatherworker liability insurance can help to lower (or eliminate) what you owe for a liability claim.
Depending on the type of policy you choose, a short-term show policy or an annual policy, the limits of liability and types of coverage can vary. The show policy is made for vendors who only need 1–90 days of consecutive general liability insurance—whereas the annual policy is for leather workers who manage their business online, need general and product liability insurance, and year-round coverage for events.
Please see the Show Policy and Annual Policy coverage details to learn more.
The ACT Show policy starts at $49 and the ACT Annual policy starts at $279. All policies include FREE unlimited additional insureds.

Yes! Your art and small business are valuable assets that deserve to be insured the same way you would your home, vehicle, or health. A single claim can lead to hundreds (or thousands) of dollars in bills, legal fees, or even damage to your reputation.
Most events, stores, and online marketplaces also require you to carry liability insurance. For events, you typically need to show a Certificate of Insurance and hold a current general liability policy. This helps to insure you against claims of slips, trips, and falls. It’s also beneficial in the event of unexpected weather conditions.
If you sell your handmade pieces in stores or online marketplaces (like Etsy, Jane, or Amazon), you need a plan that offers both general and product liability insurance. This goes beyond covering claims caused by your business operations. If your work injures someone or damages their property, such as rashes or discoloration, you may be covered by your insurance policy.
You never know when an accident can occur, so it’s best to be preventative with your protection rather than struggling without coverage once something happens. Buying a policy now can save you time, money, and stress later. After all, your work is your passion—and that passion deserves to be protected.
